Applying to be a licensed contractor through the Arizona Registrar of Contractors requires several steps. 1Go to roc.az.gov or any Arizona Registrar of Contractors to obtain an Arizona Contractor's License Application. Read all the instructions in the packet before beginning to fill out the application. The forms are fillable or you will need to fill it out by printing with black ink or with a typewriter.

2Identify your qualifying party. And learn the minimum number of years of experience and minimum number of projects your qualifying party must have and the types of examinations he/she must successfully pass to be eligible for a specific license classification. 3Pass Examination(s).The Qualifying Party must pass the required examinations by at least 70% and submit the exam results. The Qualifying Party must complete a business management exam (BME) and a specific trade exam, unless eligible for a waiver.[2]

4Submit to Background Checks[3]
- The Applicant and Qualifying Party must submit copies of the payment transaction receipt from their background checks. To submit background checks, visit https://roc.az.gov/background-checks which has a link to AZ ROC's third-party vendor.

5Form a Legal Entity
- Form or register your legal entity at the Arizona Corporation Commission (if necessary).
- In Arizona, a license may be issued to a sole proprietorship (individual), a partnership, limited liability company or a corporation. 6Complete and Submit Project Verification Forms
- The Qualifying Party must complete the correct number of Project Verification Forms, and a verifier must sign each Project Verification Form. The Project Verification Forms must be submitted with the License Application Form.

- The applicant must obtain and submit proof of a license bond.
