Espurr is a Psychic-type Pokémon that was first introduced in Pokémon X and Y.[1] When it reaches level 25, it evolves into Meowstic, another Psychic-type Pokémon.[2] If you're playing Pokémon X or Y, and want to add Espurr to your Pokédex, this wikiHow should help.

Steps

  1. 1
Make sure that you have enough Pokéballs. Espurr's Catch rate is higher than average, so Great Balls will probably suffice.[3] Be sure, however, that you bring multiple Pokéballs with you in case your first attempt at catching Espurr is not successful.
    • If you'd like to try catching Espurr right away when the encounter first begins, you can also bring a few Quick Balls.
  2. 2
Get your team ready. Because Espurr is a Psychic-type Pokémon, it is weak to Dark, Bug and Ghost-type moves, so it's a good idea to have a Pokémon or two on your team that know moves of at least one of those types.[4]
    • Espurr is not immune to any move types.[5]
    • False Swipe, a Normal-type move, is also a good move to consider having at least one of your Pokémon learn if possible, because it is guaranteed to leave Espurr with at least 1 HP.

  3. 3
Head to a place where Espurr can be found. In Pokémon X and Y, there are only two locations where Espurr can be found, and those are Route 6 (sometimes referred to as Palais Lane[6] ) and the Psychic-type Friend Safari.[7] Head to whichever location you'd like, and walk around until you encounter Espurr.
    • Espurr has a 20% chance of appearing on Route 6 in the tall grass[8] , and a 50% chance of appearing in the tall grass in Slot 2 on the Psychic-type Friend Safari.[9]
  4. 4
Catch the Espurr that appears. As mentioned earlier, Espurr has a higher than average Catch Rate, so it's likely that you'll only need a few Great Balls after decreasing its health.
    • Remember to throw any Quick Balls you brought right away once the encounter begins, or they likely won't be as effective at catching Espurr.
    • Be careful not to Burn or Poison Espurr, since these moves will slowly decrease its health until it faints.
  5. 5
Add Espurr to your team, or place it in a Box.
