Handcuffs don't have to be too tricky to draw, particularly if they're empty. Just decide if you want to draw them closed or open, and get started with your method, below.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 2:
Closed Handcuffs (Simple)
-
1Draw two ovals.
-
2Draw two smaller ovals inside the first two.Advertisement
-
3Add a curved rectangle shape to the top of both ovals. Let the bottom of the shape curve out a little to blend it into the large oval.
-
4Bring the inside edges to the bottom oval. Round off the edge.
-
5Add almost-complete circles at the bottom of the ovals. Draw a circle in the center.
-
6Add teeth on the outer edge of the cuffs.
-
7Add details to the top. This will include: the key hole, the studs, and the top loop.
-
8Draw in more edging to add dimension.
-
9Erase unwanted lines.
-
10Draw a chain and add shading.

Method 2
Method 2 of 2:
Open Handcuffs (Slightly Harder)
-
1Draw one oval to the one side of your page.
-
2Add another, larger oval.
-
3Draw two more ovals. Make these overlapping each other. (Draw very lightly)
-
4Erase the inside lines. The remaining lines will be shaped somewhat like a heart on its side.
-
5Erase some of the "heart" to make it open.
-
6Draw a rounded rectangle on the top of the heart.
-
7Add another curve, completing the other side of the open cuff.
-
8Draw a partial circle for the hinge.
-
9Erase unwanted lines.
-
10Draw teeth on the open side of the cuff.
-
11Add details. Darken lines.
-
12Add the curved rectangle and hinge to the closed cuff.
-
13Erase more.
-
14Add the key hole, teeth, and studs to the closed side.
-
15Draw the chain and shade.
-
16Finished!
