It really isn't hard to draw a dog if you break it down into simple, easy steps. Try this Maltese puppy.

Steps

  1. 1
    Draw a circle.
  2. 2
Draw a smaller circle inside the big one. This is the muzzle. Placement depends on which way you want your Maltese to face.

  3. 3
Add a tiny circle inside the little circle. This is the nose.
  4. 4
Draw two tiny circles on top of the little circle. These are her eyes.
  5. 5
Draw two ovals on either side of the largest circle. These are her ears.
  6. 6
    Erase any overlapping lines.
  7. 7
Draw a fuzzy line around her head and lengthen the ears with it until they go down past her muzzle.
  8. 8
Lengthen the hair on her muzzle by adding the fuzzy line.
  9. 9
Add a slightly curved line under the nose. This is her mouth.
  10. 10
Add a little topknot to the top of her head.
  11. 11
Erase the extra lines. Refine the fuzzy lines. Add pupils. Shade as desired.
  12. 12
    Finished.

Warnings

  • Nervousness and not believing in yourself are the number one causes of bad drawing. So only draw if you are relaxed and having fun. If you're not take a break and step away from the paper and pencil and think about how good your drawing will turn out.
