Anyone still have Pokémon Red or Blue? Well, if you do, and you want to duplicate your items, then read this!

Steps

  1. 1
Get the item you want to duplicate and put it in the sixth item slot of your bag/inventory.
  2. 2
Fly to Viridian City and walk north until you reach an old guy. Talk to him and when he asks you if you're in a hurry, say "No". He'll then show you how to catch Pokémon. Watch him do it.

  3. 3
Fly to Cinnabar Island and surf on the right side of the island until you find Missingno. (Just a bunch of glitchy-looking blocks).
  4. 4
Fight it and after you win, the item in the sixth slot will have a glitch box instead of a number.

Community Q&A

  • Question
Can I do it more than once?

Yes, but it only works on items you're holding less than 128 of. If you encountered Missigno, you should have 128 more of the item. If you encountered 'M, you will have exactly 128. You can always deposit items in your pc and continue, though.

Yes, you can, I have personally. There are no extra steps needed, and it helps if you stay on the tile that is half water and half land when you do this.

Warnings

  • MissingNo. will not break your game. It's true that it may clutter the graphics, but this can be fixed by looking at another Pokémon's stats. It's also true it could freeze your game when depositing the Pokémon to the pc, but only if it's level 0. The only permanent glitch would be the messed-up Hall of Fame, but this problem happens also when seeing MissingNo. -not only when catching it.
