How to Get a Steelix in Pokémon

Would you like a Steelix in your Pokémon game Diamond/Pearl/Platinum? If so, read this guide for more information on how to get yourself a Steelix.

Steps

First, find and catch an Onix. Note that Steelix evolves from Onix. You can catch Onix at Iron Island, Oreburgh City Mine, or Victory Road.

Give the Onix a Metal Coat to hold. You can receive a Metal Coat after getting the National Dex, in the house located outside the cave on Iron Island.

Have it hold the Metal Coat. Trade it on Wi-Fi or in the Union Room by DS to DS.

Watch it transform into the Steel Pokémon, known as Steelix.

Trade it back and you will have a Steelix.

If you are in a hurry and want Steelix badly, you can catch one in Iron Island. Keep in mind that they are rare, so put a Pokémon with lightning rod ability as the 1st Pokémon of your party.
