How to Live in a Village in Minecraft

So you been traveling in Minecraft doing the same thing everyday, until one day you come upon a village. You feel it's your duty to protect, care, and live with the villagers. Here's how.

Steps

Locate a village. The following method can increase your chances of finding one:
- Write down the seed you are using by using the /seed command.
- Create a new world on superflat with the same seed .
- Find a village and write down the coordinates.
- Go to those coordinates on your other world.

Build your house in or near the village. You will want a clear shot of it so you can shoot any zombies attacking. Make it however you want, but you might want to use an iron door so villagers don't invade your home.
- You can also occupy an already existing house in the village.

Create a large wall around the village. Zombies won't be able to enter, but don't forget about the other mobs that can harm you. Make it cobblestone or better, at least three blocks high with at least one block overhang.

Light the village and the surrounding area. This will prevent some monster spawning.

Create more iron golems to protect the village. To do this, arrange 4 iron blocks into a T-shape, then add a pumpkin on top. The structure should transform into an iron golem, who will protect your villagers from hostile mobs.

Consider adding traps. Traps like cannons and deep pits into cactus or lava are a great way to get mob drops. Don't forget to keep it villager friendly as they can fall in the trap.

Add on to the village. Trade with the villagers and protect them.

Light up the village completely so if you walk around with the F4/debug screen up, the light level is always above 10. Sleep every night in your bed to make sure no mobs spawn at night. Like the article says, spawn several iron volumes around the village to attack unwanted visitors.

Don't punch the villagers. If you hit the villagers too many times, the iron golems of the village will attack you and the villagers won't be able to breed anymore.
