If all your Friendly's Ice Cream shops moved away, you'd be stuck not eating their famous Cone Head Sundaes for quite some time. However, with a little preparation time, you can make this classic ice cream sundae recipe with the information contained within this article.
Ingredients
- 2 scoops Vanilla ice cream
- At least 3 plain M&M (2 M&Ms of one color and 1 of another)
- Chocolate-covered sugar cones
Yield: 1 Cone Head Sundae
Preparation time: 30-45 minutes (Depending on the complexity of ingredient-gathering needed)
Steps
-
1Bring the items you'll need over to prepare this ice cream sundae treat. You'll need to bring at the very least the ice cream (tall) dish, ice cream, and the chocolate-covered edge of a sugar cone - which will all need to be kept pretty cool. You'll also need the items from the Ingredients list.
- If you need to make your own, you'll need to cover the edge of the inner and outer edges of a sugar cone, so that when placed where they go they will not slip around, nor that the chocolate will not spill into the remainder of the cone.
-
2Dish out the base layer of vanilla ice cream and place it in your sundae dish. Work quickly from here on in, as the ice cream will likely begin to melt.Advertisement
-
3Dish out a second ice cream ball. Although you'll likely not want to make this one completely round, it'll need a ruffles layer around the one edge of the ice cream designating the shoulder blades and mouth of the sundae's personal face-profile. Place this on top of the other ice cream ball - visually watching for where the ruffles have been "produced".
- If you'd rather form the mouth using hot fudge sundae topping or spray whipped cream, you may try to form them with those instead.
Tip: Think the word "clown" when it comes to the look of the ice cream with the ruffles.
-
4Grab out two of the same color M&Ms for the sundae's eyes. If you don't like M&M's, you may substitute Reese's Pieces. If you like neither, you can lastly substitute Skittles, but few Friendly's use Skittles for their Sundaes unless the customer says they'd like them instead due to a food allergy.
-
5Place these two M&M's to show the locations of the clown's eyes.
-
6Grab another color M&M or Reese's Pieces or Skittle and place these down as the "nose" of the sundae.
-
7Grab your sugar cone and put the top-side (chocolate-covered) edge of the cone face down on top of the sundae. This forms the tophat on top of the sundae face's head.
-
8Serve cold. It's served much like any other ice cream sundae - this one has additional features.
Things You'll Need
- Ice cream sundae dish
- Preparation space in a cold room
