How to Request Uber XL

When booking an Uber ride for a party of four or more, you'll want to request an UberXL vehicle. UberXL vehicles are larger SUVs or minivans that can accommodate 6 or more passengers. This wikiHow will show you how to request an UberXL from the Uber mobile app and website.

Using the Mobile App

Open Uber. This app icon looks like a white broken circle on a black background that you'll find on your Home screens, in the app drawer, or by searching.

Request a ride. Tap the "Where to?" text field and enter the address of your destination. If you're going to Walmart but don't know the physical address, you can type "Walmart" and the closest results will appear.
- If you type in a business name, you'll see the results of optional locations where that business is located. Tap one of those results to use it as a destination.
- If your pickup location is different than what Uber shows, you can change the pickup location (by tapping the top text field) and type in the correct pickup location.
- If you're booking a ride for another guest, tap your profile icon at the top of the page. A menu will drop-down and you'll need to tap Choose who's riding so your guest can use their phone to contact the Uber driver.

Tap UberXL. After you pick your destination, you can pick what type of car to ride in. You'll find UberXL under the header, "Economy."^{[1]

Tap Confirm UberXL. You'll see this button at the bottom of your screen. If no UberXL cars are in your area, you'll see "No cars available" and you'll have to pick another car to request a ride.
- Once you confirm the ride, the app will send out a notification to all drivers with UberXL. You'll be notified with your driver's picture and vehicle details once you get a match. You can also track your driver as they approach your pickup location.
- If you don't want the ride immediately, you can schedule the ride for a later ride.

Using Uber.com

Go to https://www.uber.com/ and log in. You can use a mobile or desktop browser to request an UberXL.

Enter your pickup location. You'll see a text box on the left side of the page under the header, "Where can we pick you up?"
- You can also click "Allow location access" to let your computer provide your location.

Enter your destination. You'll see recently entered locations under the text field. You can either select one of these or type your destination.

Click UberXL. You'll see a preview of the ride's cost as well as how long it'll take to get to you to the right.

Click Request UberXL. If no UberXL cars are in your area, you'll see "No cars available" and you'll have to pick another car to request a ride.
