While you can use cheat codes to unlock various characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, there are no cheat codes that unlock Darth Vader. Fortunately, there are two ways in which you can unlock him: either by purchasing him in the shop or by defeating Emperor Palpatine.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 3:
Earning Studs to Purchase Darth Vader
-
1Earn the True Jedi status on all 17 levels in the game by collecting studs. They will fill up the Jedi Meter. You will need about 200,000 of these studs in order to purchase Darth Vader from the store once he appears.
-
2Know how to collect studs. You will need a lot of these studs, so you will need to collect as many as you can. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- You can find studs by smashing stuff open, solving puzzles, and finding secret rooms.
- After completing each level, consider running through it again on free play so that you can earn more studs by killing and destroying everything.
- Run a few pod races in Mos Espa, or complete any other challenges that are quick and easy for you.
- Use multipliers with care. They are expensive and might not be worth it in the long run.

3Know what causes you to lose studs. Some events can cause you to lose studs; this means that you will need to go find more in order to replace them, which can take up time. Consider turning on invincibility to prevent any losses. Here are two ways you can lose studs:
- If you die by falling down a pit, you will lose 1,000 studs.
- If you die by getting hit by a blaster, you will loose 2,000 studs.
-
4Make sure that you are playing in story mode. Darth Vader will not unlock if you are in free play. You can, however, use free play in order to earn studs.

Method 2
Method 2 of 3:
Unlocking Darth Vader In the Shop
-
1Go to the bonus room. It's the room with the trailers and the bonus levels.
-
2Find the door that says "Episode IV." If you cannot find it, make sure that you completed the previous levels in story mode. If you completed those levels, then you may have to finish building the door.
-
3Play through all of "Episode IV." After you have completed all levels in Episode IV, you will unlock a bonus level called "A New Hope."
-
4Play through the bonus level. You can find the door for "A New Hope" opposite of the door that leads to the main cantina. Once you beat the bonus level, Darth Vader will appear in the shop.

Method 3 of 3:
Defeating Emperor Palpatine in Episode VI
-
1Make sure that you are in story mode. You must finish all of Episode VI in this mode in order to unlock Darth Vader.
-
2Play through all of "Episode VI, Return of the Jedi." This unlocks the fifth chapter: Jedi Destiny.
-
3Beat Emperor Palpatine in the boss fight. You will be playing as both Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.
- The Emperor will try to hit you with his force lightning and jump around after each hit. Chase the emperor to where he lands every time he jumps.
- When you get hit with his force lightning, switch characters and attack him again. Keep repeating these steps until he is defeated.
-
4Unlock Darth Vader. Once the "Jedi Destiny" is complete, Darth Vader will be unlocked. You will not have to buy him from the shop.
