1916 Nebraska gubernatorial election
The 1916 Nebraska gubernatorial election was held on November 7, 1916, and featured bank director and rancher Keith Neville, a Democrat, narrowly defeating Republican nominee, Douglas County District Judge Abraham L. Sutton.

J. D. Graves of Peru, attorney, real estate and insurance agent for many years, died Friday morning in an Omaha hospital at the age of 85. Though retired and in failing health for some years, he became seriously ill only this week. A resident of Peru nearly all his life, Mr. Graves was one of those foremost in obtaining state teachers' college for the town, and was associated with T. J. Majors for years fostering the school's growth and keeping it for Peru.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Benjamin Z. Millikan, 72, retired railroader by Rev. Maurice F. Lyerla. Mr. Millikan married Tillie A. Gallimore in 1889. She died in 1915. In 1916, Mr. Millikan married Edna Griffus Woodard, who survives. He spent 53 years in railroad service, retiring in 1939.
