– Planned completion of Los Angeles Metro Rail Gold Line Foothill Extension to Pomona, California.[1][2]
February
– Estimated start of South Shore Line service along the West Lake Corridor in Northwest Indiana.[3]
April
– Delhi–Alwar Regional Rapid Transit System to be completed, allowing speeds up to 160 kilometres per hour (99 mph).[4]

– Metro Tunnel is planned to open, connecting north and south railway lines in Melbourne.[5]
– Vienna U-Bahn line U5 opening.
– Possible completion of Hasselt – Maastricht tramway.
