Benjamín Gazzolo

Benjamín José Gazzolo Freire (born 4 July 1997) is a Chilean footballer who plays as a centre-back for Huachipato.

Club career

Born in San Felipe, Chile, as a child, Gazzolo was with Escuela de Fútbol Luis Quezada before joining the Unión San Felipe youth system, making his professional debut at the age of sixteen.[1]

In 2020, he switched to Huachipato in the Chilean top division.[2]

International career

Gazzolo took part of the Chile under-23 squad in the 2020 Pre-Olympic Tournament.[3][4] Previously, he took part of Chile squad at under-20 level in 2016.[5][1]

Personal life

He is of Italian descent and holds Italian citizenship.[6] His Italian relatives are fans of Genoa according to his grandfather.[1]

His father played football at amateur level for Deportivo Putaendo. He had a twin brother called Santiago.[1]
