Chris Akena

Akena Chris Pius (born 18 August 2002) is a Ugandan footballer, who plays as a midfielder for Al Rams and the Uganda national football team “the Cranes”.[1][2]

Career

Akena started his youth career at Proway Sports Academy in Uganda before joining Aspire Football Academy Qatar in 2016. In 2017, he joined Uganda Premier League side Maroons FC and in 2021 he signed for Shabab Al Ahli Club where he later joined Al Rams Soccer Club in January 2023.[3][4]

International career

In December 2021, Akena earned his maiden call-up to the Uganda national football team which was set to play two international build-up matches against Gabon and Mauritania.[5] However, he made his debut on 21 January 2022 against Iraq national football team at Al Shohada International Stadium in Baghdad city.[6][7][8]
