Early life

Braswell was born on September 27, 1999, and grew up in Washington, D.C.[1] He attended Friendship College Academy and was a two-way player, as a cornerback and wide receiver.[2] He helped the team win the DCSAA championship and was named first-team All-USA D.C.[2] Braswell committed to play college football at Temple.[3]

College career

As a true freshman at Temple in 2017, Braswell redshirted.[4] He posted 11 tackles in 12 games the following year, before earning a starting role in 2019.[5] With Temple in 2019, Braswell recorded 29 tackles and 10 pass breakups.[5] In the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season, he amassed 21 tackles with two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and an interception.[5][6]

Braswell transferred to Rutgers in 2021 but missed the entire season as a result of a knee injury.[7][8] In 2022, he appeared in all 12 games, five of which he started, and was the Rutgers team leader with 11 pass breakups, additionally posting three interceptions and 36 tackles.[6][9] He was chosen second-team All-Big Ten by Pro Football Focus (PFF) and named an honorable mention by the media.[10]
