History

The predecessor of Citizens was a football club that was founded in 2012 under the name Monitoring Success College FC. [1]

Citizens Football Club was founded on September 27, 2013, in the capital of Namibia, in the city of Windhoek. In 2014, the club reached the final of the National Cup[2] The Citizens' opponent in the final was the older and more experienced African Stars. In general, the team showed a decent game, but lost to a more experienced opponent. The club's name was once again heard when club player Leslie Soabeb won the Golden Boot of the tournament's top scorer. Another significant achievement of Citizens was the victory in 2014 in the First Division of the Namibian Football Championship (zone "South"). This success allowed the club to play in a more prestigious competition, the Namibian Football Premier League, since the 2014–15 season.
