Dili Malay
The Dili Malay is a Malay based creole which is spoken in Dili, East Timor especially in the Kampung Alor.[2] According to experts, before becoming the mother tongue of a number of speakers, this language was originally a pidgin language (Bloomfield, 1933; Hall, 1966). Then in its development this pidgin language became creole language which is used in wider social interactions in society (Todd, 1974:50).[1]

Origin
According to Suparlan (1978:44), there is racially diverse among the various ethnic groups inhabiting the Province of Timor Timur (now East Timor). It can be mentioned, among others, Race Papua Melanesoid, Vedo Austroloid, Caucasoid, Mongoloid, and Malays. The existence of the Malay race among these various races is reasonable given that the spread of the Malay ethnicity almost covers the entire Southeast Asia Archipelago, and has become a part of history. In various areas, the Malay people and its culture mingle with the local culture, One of the visible manifestations of this assimilation is seen, among others, in the existence of the Malay language in various local areas, as well as the Dili Malay used in the Dili, East Timor.[1]
Usages
Dili Malay is spoken by around 1,000 speakers, who live in several places in Dili City, especially in Kampung Alor. Residents of Kampung Alor in general are merchants of descendant Arab and Malay traders in general. Dili Malay is spoken as mother tongue by some, and is the main means of communication among speakers, in addition to Tetum and Indonesian. Like Malay in other regions of the archipelago, Dili Malay developed from pidgin.[1]
