Fortress Hill
Fortress Hill or Pau Toi Shan is a hill and a colloquial name used to describe the fringe area between the areas of North Point and Causeway Bay on the north shore of Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. As it is not an actual legally defined neighbourhood, its extent varies greatly between individuals. Fortress Hill generally includes the western part of North Point lying west of Oil Street, and the eastern part of Causeway Bay. There are a number of private residential estates, office buildings, hotels and serviced apartments in this area.

History
The Cantonese name Pau Toi Shan (Chinese: 炮台山; Jyutping: paau3 toi4 saan1) initially refers to the demolished North Point Battery where Empire Theatre sits today.
The name "Fortress Hill" first came into official usage when Fortress Hill Road, a road leading to the demolished North Point Battery, was built in 1949. The name gained much popularity when Fortress Hill station was built in 1985, until then a hill directly above the said MTR station became known as "Fortress Hill".
The names of Oil Street and Shell Street come from a former oil depot that was established by Royal Dutch (now Royal Dutch Shell) in the area in 1897. The depot was decommissioned in 1981.[1]
