The Manufacturing Facility

Isuzu Motors India manufactures the products at its modern manufacturing plant in Sri City, spread over an area of 107 acres in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The company began its manufacturing operations in April 2016, with strong focus on quality and commitment to Indian market. In February 2020, Isuzu Motors India commenced the start of its Phase-II operations with the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Press Shop facility and Engine Assembly plant. The plant has the production capacity of 25,000 units on a single shift basis. An ISO 9001:2015 certified company, Isuzu Motors India is committed to providing products and services of the highest level of quality to ensure customer delight.

The plant plays a significant role in expanding the global footprint of Isuzu Motors. It also manufacturers vehicles for the export markets in the neighbouring countries including Nepal and Bhutan. In the recent years, it has commenced export of vehicles to the GCC markets also. It is notable that the quality of the ‘Made in India’ vehicles are of the same quality of vehicles manufactured in other overseas plants of Isuzu Motors.

In order to tap into the manufacturing capabilities of quality suppliers in India, it has aggressively built a supplier base of 162 as of today. The entire supplier base is TS16949 certified. The quality of the locally sourced parts is of the same global Isuzu standards. The company is currently encouraging suppliers to set up facilities closer to the Sri City plant to bring more synergy for manufacturing operations.

History

Since its inception in 1916, the company Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co. Ltd., has been in the field of manufacturing automobiles. Over the years, the company had crossed many milestones in developing automobile and diesel engines with players like Wolseley Motors of England and DAT Automobile Manufacturing Inc. The company later in 1934 named its truck ‘Isuzu’ which was then altered and the company was reorganised to ‘Isuzu Motors Limited’ in the year 1949 with a capital of 150 million yen. Since then, the company has grown exponentially with the introduction of new products and diesel engines for the commercial and passenger vehicle segments across the globe.
