After Tommy Fury defeated Jake Paul in February 2023 in Saudi Arabia, both Paul and Fury expressed interest in an immediate rematch.[4] In March however, reports stated that Paul and his team were planning on having a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and KSI before they rematch Fury.[5]

On April 12, it was announced that Paul would return to the ring against mixed martial arts fighter Nate Diaz.[3]
