Katalwedha

Katalwedha is a famous village in Parner taluka in Ahmednagar district of state of Maharashtra, India and village is headed by Piyush Bhausaheb Gajare since Feb 2021.Katalwedha has bordered with district like Pune which is 130km away from it. All religious peoples are living in this village with friendly in manner. To the north of this village, a Dongarwadi is situated. My village is distributed in 5 parts viz., Gavthan, Dattanagar, 'Charanwadi ,Vitthalwadi,Buddhanagar and Khatatewasti.

Etymology

The name Katalwedha is derived from the Kateshwar which is patron god of native Dhanagar community. Katalwedha has border with other talukas like Junnar to the south, Sangamner to the western-north.From Katalwedha Ahmednagar is located at 64km away to the east.

Religion

The majority of the population in the village is Hindu. There are 5 religious people living in this village such as Maratha, Dhanagar, Bauddha, Ramoshi and Gosavi. Katalwedha has cultural heritage so people of Katalwedha celebrates annual yatras of chief patron gods like Biroba located to the east of Gavthan,Shri Datta Prabhu' at Dattanagar, Charangbaba at Charanwadi and Saint Dnyaneshwar Mauli located at Dongarwadi in the month of April-May of every year.

Economy

The majority of the population has farming as their primary occupation. People are also working in nearby metropolitan cities like Pune, Mumbai etc., To the south of the village, a small lake is situated which is become main source of irrigation for farmers of the village.
