KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! is an anime television series adapted from the light novel series of the same title by Natsume Akatsuki. The series follows the adventures of Kazuma Satō who, after he dies of a heart attack after pushing a girl out of the way of a truck, which turned out to be a tractor, is sent to an RPG-like world, going on various adventures alongside a goddess named Aqua, a magician named Megumin, and a knight named Darkness.

Produced by Studio Deen, the series was directed by Takaomi Kanasaki and written by Makoto Uezu with character designs by Koichi Kikuta.[1] Spanning two seasons, the series adapts the first four volumes of the light novels, and was followed by a 2019 film which adapted the fifth.
The first season (adapting volumes one and two of the novels) was broadcast on Tokyo MX in Japan from January 14 through March 16, 2016[2] and was simulcast by Crunchyroll and AnimeLab.[3][4]
The opening theme is "Fantastic Dreamer" by Machico while the ending theme is "Chīsana Bōken-sha" (ちいさな冒険者, lit."Little Adventurer") performed by Sora Amamiya, Rie Takahashi, and Ai Kayano.[5]
A second season based on the third and fourth volumes of the series ran from January 11 to March 16, 2017. The second's season's opening theme is "Tomorrow" by Machico, and the ending theme is "Ouchi ni Kaeritai" by Amamiya, Takahashi, and Kayano.[6]
An original video animation was bundled with the ninth light novel of KonoSuba in June 2016,[7] and a second was released with the twelfth light novel in July 2017.[8]
On May 28, 2022, the third season and adapted spin-off[Note 1] was announced to be released in 2023,[9] which premiered on April 6, 2023. Drive, a 2015-established animation studio, would be producing the series onwards and replaced Studio Deen who produced the first two seasons of the series.

| After struggling to defeat some giant frogs, Kazuma and Aqua seek out members to join their party. They are soon approached by Megumin, a magician capable of performing powerful explosion magic. However, they quickly discover that she becomes incapacitated immediately after casting her Explosion spell and is too stubborn to learn anything else. Kazuma reluctantly keeps Megumin in his party so she wouldn't make him seem like a perverted freak in public. | With hunting requests declining due to one of the Devil King's generals moving in nearby, Kazuma accompanies Megumin as she practices her explosion magic on a seemingly abandoned castle. This ends up infuriating the general, Verdia the Dullahan, who had been living in that very castle. Placing a death curse upon Darkness, Verdia demands that Megumin come to his castle within a week in order to save Darkness' life. Shortly after Verdia takes his leave, however, Aqua simply removes the curse from Darkness, eliminating the need to make the journey to the castle. | |||||||

| Wanting to earn some money despite only hard quests being available, Aqua takes on a request to purify a lake filled with alligator monsters, with the others putting her in a cage to keep her safe. Though Aqua eventually gets the quest done, she is left somewhat traumatized from hours of alligator attacks. On the way back, the group encounter Kyouya Mitsurugi, another human Aqua had sent to Axel, who is less than pleased with the way Aqua is seemingly being treated. Kyouya challenges Kazuma to a duel but is quickly defeated after Kazuma steals the cursed sword he received when he came to the RPG world. The next day, after Kyouya becomes shocked to find that Kazuma had sold his sword, Verdia returns to the town, wondering why no one came to fight him. | |||||||

| Annoyed that Megumin had still been using his castle for explosion practice, Verdia, after proving easily susceptible to Aqua's purification magic, summons an undead army which is quickly defeated by Megumin's explosion magic. As Verdia then battles against Darkness, Kazuma deduces that he is weak against water and has Aqua attack him with a flood. Managing to weaken him, Kazuma manages to steal Verdia's head, giving Aqua the chance to defeat him with her magic. The next day, Kazuma and his party earn a hefty reward for defeating Verdia, which is immediately put towards paying off the damages Aqua's flood caused to the town. | |||||||

| Needing money to pay off his debts despite the freezing weather, Kazuma and his party takes on a quest to kill Snow Sprites. | Kazuma and Aqua visit a magic shop run by a kind-hearted lich named Wiz, who reveals herself to be one of the Devil King's generals in charge of protecting a barrier surrounding the Devil King's castle. After Wiz teaches Kazuma the Drain Touch skill, the party takes on a request to exorcise evil spirits from a mansion, where they can stay during the winter. Later that night, Kazuma and Megumin find themselves on the run from an army of possessed dolls while also desperately needing the bathroom. | Kazuma and his adventure friends Keith and Dust go to a shop run by succubi who provide male adventurers with much needed relief by giving them erotic dreams. After having a luxurious crab meal and briefly falling asleep in the bath, Kazuma mistakes Darkness entering the bath as the dream and tries to order her to do dubious things. Before they can proceed further it's discovered that Aqua has trapped the succubus before she was able to incite his dream, leading Kazuma to get beaten up by the others while trying to help the succubus escape. | With their members being perfectly suited for the job, Kazuma's party, along with Wiz, are chosen to lead an attack against the Destroyer. Meanwhile, Darkness tells Kazuma that her true name is Dustiness Ford Lalatina, the daughter of a well-regarded family. Using Aqua's barrier breaking spells and Megumin and Wiz's explosion magic, the party manage to take down the Destroyer, only to set off a self-destruct sequence. Heading inside to find a way to stop the Destroyer from exploding, Kazuma manages to find the power source and has Wiz teleport it elsewhere, before Megumin uses a powered-up explosion to destroy the fortress. As peace returns to the town, Kazuma finds himself under arrest as the power source he teleported away ends up destroying a noble's mansion. | |||||||

| While running into Yunyun at Wiz's shop, Kazuma ends up putting on a choker that supposedly grants wishes. He quickly discovers, however, that this choker will gradually tighten and eventually strangle him to death in four days unless he can fulfill the wish he had subsconsciously made while putting it on. The girls admit they were partly responsible for it so they offer to help. Taking advantage of the pity he receives from the other girls as a result, Kazuma guilts them into following all kinds of ridiculous and perverted commands as they try to grant his unknown wish. While most girls fulfill his perverted desires, he makes Aqua run errands and do menial tasks. During the third night, Yunyun asks why Megumin wishes to save Kazuma, and claims its just because he carries her when she's unconscious and because they're friends, which is a half truth since the main reason is because he is the first person to never kick her out of his party since she can't handle her magic. Yunyun states no matter what thing Kazuma makes her do, she'll help get the collar off since she's partly responsible. At the beginning of the fourth day, Kazuma finds himself at peace after letting out all his callous feelings towards the girls; he told Megumin he tried to feel her small breasts whenever he had to carry her after using explosion, Yunyun and Wiz he looks at their chests when he talks to them, Darkness that he started thinking of her as just breasts since she moved into the mansion, and Aqua no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get turned on by her, upsetting her that he never thought of her like he does the others. It turns out the wish he had made was that he could know what it's like to be comforted, which occurred before his confessions, resulting in the choker becoming undone without them knowing. Angered by the humiliation they were subjected to when the wish wasn't anything perverted, the girls quickly take their revenge on Kazuma, who once again finds himself in an awkward meeting with Eris. | ||||||

| Finding no support from his allies, Kazuma is arrested for treason due to accidentally blowing up a noble's mansion. As Aqua makes various failed attempts to break him loose, Kazuma is interrogated by the prosecutor, Sena, using a magic lie detector. Due to his connections with Wiz, Kazuma is accused of having connections with the Devil King and is put on trial, where all of his perverted crimes are brought to light. Although Kazuma manages to prove that he is not part of the Devil King's army, Alderp, the noble who the mansion belonged to, sways the judge towards a guilty verdict. Just then, Darkness reveals her heritage to the Dustiness family and convinces the judge to give Kazuma a stay of trial. | As Kazuma notices that Darkness hasn't come back since negotiating with Alderp, Megumin brings in a cat that she names Chomusuke. When the group are tasked by Sena to stop a group of toads only to quickly find themselves outnumbered, they are saved by Megumin's self-proclaimed rival, Yunyun. After an uneventful duel resulting in Megumin's victory, Kazuma and Megumin somehow end up sharing a bath together, leading to some panic when Aqua returns home. The next day at Wiz's shop, Megumin and Yunyun have another duel to decide who can properly use a magical Friendship Crystal, which just ends up showing everyone their past embarrassments. | |||||||

| Wanting to earn some real money, Kazuma and Aqua go to explore a newly discovered pathway in Keele's Dungeon, coming across gremlins, mimics, and the undead along the way. They soon come across the dungeon's master, an arch wizard named Keele who had been seeking a priest to put him to rest and reunite him with his late wife. | Darkness suddenly returns, asking for the others' help in getting out of an arranged marriage with the Alderp's son, Walther. Secretly eager to get Darkness out of his party, Kazuma suggests that she attend the marriage meeting under the pretense of ruining it, while secretly trying to prevent her from doing so in order to earn a reward from her father. As Darkness tries to turn off Walther with her shameless behavior, she ends up having a one-on-one duel against Kazuma, whose perverted mannerisms help him win. | As a result of a magic circle that Aqua had drawn in Keele's dungeon, strange explosive doll monsters have started to appear, putting the town at risk. Investigating the dungeon once more, Kazuma and Darkness discover the archmagician behind the dolls to be one the Devil King's commanders, Vanir, who has the ability to read minds. Although he appears to be defeated following a lucky attack, Vanir attaches his mask onto Darkness and possesses her body, only to be completely put off by her masochism. After Kazuma cleans up the magic circle and placing a seal on Vanir's mask, Vanir attempts to use Darkness' body to take vengeance on Aqua. When removing the seal fails to do anything, Kazuma has Megumin cast Explosion to destroy Vanir. Afterwards, Darkness is faced with the embarrassment of everyone calling her Lalatina, while Kazuma has his debt cleared and is given a hefty reward for defeating Vanir. | |||||||

| Kazuma is surprised to discover that Vanir had an extra life and has since quit his position as a commander to work at Wiz's shop, striking up a business partnership to sell products from Kazuma's world. One of these is a kotatsu, which Kazuma refuses to come out from under, and harasses Darkness and Megumin when they try to get him out. Even when he finally needs to use the bathroom, he still refuses to come out and asks Darkness and Megumin to carry it to the bathroom with him in it. Fed up with his behavior, the two girls instead throw him and the kotatsu out the window. Later, after making a somewhat regretful sword purchase, Kazuma and his party go on a quest to eliminate a group of Lizard Runners. However, due to various factors, Kazuma's plan ends in failure and he once again dies and finds himself in Eris' underworld. While waiting to be revived, Kazuma starts to perceive Eris as his ideal heroine and contemplates just being reborn into the real world until Megumin takes drastic measures to convince him to return to his body. | |||||||

| Vanir gives Kazuma the choice of either selling the intellectual rights for his real world products for a one-off payment of 300 million eris, or maintaining a profit-sharing contract of 1 million eris a month. Not wanting this new sense of wealth to distract him from adventuring, Megumin proposes that everyone go to the Arcanretia hot springs to heal Kazuma's previous injuries. Joined by Wiz, the group set off via wagon alongside a baby red dragon, only for Darkness' "hardness" to wind up attracting a stampede of Running Kite Hawks. | |||||||

| Kazuma and the others manage to lure the kite hawks into a cave and deal with them all at once, only to cause more trouble for the other travellers later when Aqua attracts some zombies. The party finally arrives at Arcanretia, which turns out to be the hometown of the Axis Church that Aqua founded. While taking in some sightseeing, Kazuma and Darkness are constantly pestered by the fanatic Axis worshipping residents, who keep trying to convert them to their church while looking down on Darkness for worshipping Eris. | |||||||

| After witnessing Aqua warp the town's citizens with her petty confessional hearings, Kazuma takes a dip in the mixed bath, where he comes across another man who is as sick of the town's behavior as he is. Meanwhile, Aqua, contrary to how she is worshipped as a goddess, finds herself under scrutiny from the citizens after she keeps purifying the hot springs into regular water. Although Aqua reveals her identity as a goddess, the citizens don't believe her, instead declaring her to be part of the Devil King's army and launching a witch hunt. | |||||||

| Evading the angry mob, the gang discover that the source of the town's water is being poisoned by the man from earlier, who is revealed to be one of the Devil King's army leaders, Hans the Deadly Poison Slime. Learning that Hans had eaten the hot springs' overseer, violating the non-interference agreement she had made with the Devil King's army upon leaving, Wiz steps in to face Hans while Aqua attempts to purify the source, receiving help from the cultists after they realize the truth. Noticing that bodies that haven't been fully digested can still be resurrected, Kazuma lets himself be eaten by Hans so that Megumin and Wiz can bring him down to size before Aqua, with support from her followers, delivers the finishing blow. After everything is resolved, the gang end up getting kicked out of town due to Aqua's attack purifying all of its hot spring water and return home to Axel. | |||||||

| Kazuma meets a novice adventurer called Ran, who claims to be Kazuma's fan. A quest is proposed to Kazuma and his party in front of Ran, so Kazuma accepts the quest to look good in front of his fan; after some convincing, they all go to fight a robot golem. Despite being told to destroy it, Megumin desires to keep it. Aqua says she'll make Megumin a transforming robot if she destroys the golem robot, to which she agrees. Megumin sees the robot wasn't completely destroyed and still wants it, so Aqua says she'll still build the transforming robot made out of milk cartons, yet Kazuma tries to tell them it's still active, which falls on deaf ears, then it self-detonates. Kazuma returns to the guild and boasts to Ran about the success of his quest. Another quest, yet again, is proposed to Kazuma in front of Ran. Kazuma accepts it and convinces his party to do it as well. The quest is that Kazuma and his party have to investigate the ruins they already been too. Kazuma and his party search the ruins for items. Among many haunted dolls, they find a diary filled with the life of a previous Japanese NEET who was reincarnated into this world. The writer was a man who could create anything he wanted, and then it goes on how he eventually gave up when he thought why should he fight the devil king. The diary goes on about how he created the golem. The diary also states that he created bishoujo robots, but none of them were perfect. It then states the writer decided to leave and become a merchant in a wealthy city, then Kazuma realized they met him before. After Aqua finishes reading, Kazuma gets desperate to find this robot. When Kazuma finds the robot, Aqua clicks a button and activates it. The robot asks who its master is and Kazuma bravely steps forward claiming that the robot's master is him. The robot pulls out a whip and starts abusing and barking commands at Kazuma, who is cowering with his party, since the creator is a masochist. Megumin then uses explosion and destroys the ruins. Kazuma tells Ran what happened, who is uninterested. Ran soon leaves Kazuma and appears to be quarreling with Luna. Kazuma approaches them, to help sort out the quarrel. Turns out Ran isn't actually Kazuma's fan. Ran was put on a quest to motivate Kazuma and his party to do more quests. After hearing this, Kazuma gets angry and walks closer to Ran and Luna. Ran and Luna realize that Kazuma is coming closer and get scared; they start praising Kazuma at a minimum. Kazuma is unmoved by their false praises and uses his steal-skill to steal their panties. | ||||||

| Long before she meets Kazuma, a young Megumin accidentally unleashes a monster that attacks her, but she is saved by a mysterious and powerful mage who uses explosion magic to destroy the monster. Inspired, Megumin asks the mage to teach her how to cast explosion magic, but the mage refuses, cautioning her that explosion magic comes with many downsides. Megumin returns home, and is able to enroll in the Red Prison magic academy thanks to her parents making an important sale. At the academy, she meets Yunyun who declares that she will be Megumin's rival, and they soon form a grudging friendship with each other. Megumin then learns during her studies that explosion magic is not taken seriously by the Crimson Demon clan, as it is highly impractical and rarely cast. Regardless, Megumin decides to learn how to cast explosion magic, no matter what. | ||||||

| Upon returning home from school one day, Megumin discovers that her younger sister Komekko managed to capture a creature resembling a black cat. Fearing Komekko might try to eat the cat, Megumin adopts it and takes it to school with her, which immediately grabs the attention of her classmates. She is then able to convince the teacher that the cat is her familiar, and is allowed to bring it to class. Later, the teacher then informs the students that he will be taking them to an "augmentation surge", which involves the students killing forest creatures the teacher had frozen for them. The students are then attacked by a gargoyle and are saved by the unexpected assistance of Bukkorori, another Crimson Demon who has a crush on Soketto, the village's most attractive woman. Disgusted by Bukkorori's obsessive stalking of Soketta, the students leave him trapped in a pit and are horrified to see the village being attacked by a horde of gargoyles. The adults of the village band together and use their advanced magic to destroy the gargoyles, but Megumin is unimpressed since their spells pale in comparison to explosion magic. The gargoyles are defeated, but the adults accidentally destroy the village in the process and have to spend the whole night rebuilding it. The next day, since the cat still doesn't have a name, the other students start calling it "Megumin", much to Megumin's annoyance. | ||||||

| Finally fed up with everybody calling the cat Megumin, Megumin follows Yunyun's suggestion and gives it the name "Ink". With the adults out to deal with a mysterious surge in monster activity, the students are left to do free study in the library. Bukkorori teleports into the library, having finally escaped from the pit trap and enlists Megumin and Yunyun's aid in helping him get closer to Soketto. Megumin comes up with the idea of her and Yunyun ambushing Soketto in the forest, with Bukkorori coming to her rescue. However, Bukkorori botches the plan when he is caught by Soketto. A large pack of One-Punch Bears then attacks, and Bukkorori uses an Inferno spell to destroy them, but accidentally hits Soketto with the spell as well. Soketto agrees to perform a fortune reading for Bukkorori, but when he asks who his future lover will be, the fortune reading turns up nothing. Heartbroken, Bukkorori flees, but Megumin and Yunyun do pick up that Soketto doesn't necessarily hate Bukkorori. Back at school, Megumin and Yunyun briefly talk about the possibility of Megumin finding a romantic partner before walking home together. | ||||||

| Megumin manages to be the top scorer in the latest round of tests, earning her a skill point potion. However, she notices Yunyun not acting like her normal self. Later, Yunyun confides in Megumin that one of their classmates, Funifura, has a younger brother who is ill and she has been asking to borrow money from Yunyun to buy medicine. Megumin realizes that Funifura is taking advantage of Yunyun's desperation for friendship to pressure her. Instead, Megumin crafts a healing potion and gives it to Funifura in return for Yunyun's money. Funifura then teases Megumin about how she seems to go out of her way to protect Yunyun even though she claims they aren't friends. Later, Yunyun reveals to Megumin that she's deliberately been holding back in her tests so that she and Megumin can graduate together, which angers Megumin. They then get into a fight after Yunyun insults explosion magic, which Yunyun manages to win. Megumin tells Yunyun how she was inspired by the mage that saved her, and once she graduates she will go on a journey to track her down. Yunyun offers to be Megumin's traveling companion. However, a horde of monsters suddenly attacks the village, and Megumin rushes home to find Komekko missing. | ||||||

| While Megumin was going to school, Komekko had befriended a demon named Host who has been working to break the seal imprisoning the Dark God Wolbach. It's during one of her visits that she found Ink and took her home. In the present, Megumin searches her house but doesn't find Komekko. Monsters then attack and kidnap Ink, only for Komekko to confront them to try and take Ink back. Megumin considers using her skill points to learn magic to fight the monsters, but hesitates as that would mean delaying her plans to learn explosion magic. Seeing Megumin's dilemma, Yunyun takes it upon herself to use her skill points to learn intermediate magic and fight the monsters, rescuing Ink. However, she uses up most of her energy in the process and collapses. At that moment the horde of monsters begins to head towards them, and Megumin realizes that Ink is actually the Dark God they are looking for. She also realizes she has gathered enough skill points to learn explosion magic, which she uses to destroy the entire monster horde. Afterwards, since they have both learned magic, Megumin and Yunyun graduate early. Megumin decides to officially make Ink her familiar and renames her Chomusuke. | ||||||

| Having graduated from school, Megumin tries to earn enough money so she can leave the village to start adventuring, but she has trouble securing a stable job. In the meantime, she secretly trains in the night by casting explosion magic in the forest, with the village believing the explosions are the work of a demon. One night, Megumin is approached by a demon woman named Arnes who is looking for Chomusuke, whose true identity is the Dark God Wolbach. Megumin agrees to sell Chomusuke for 300,000 eris, but Chomusuke refuses to be taken away from Megumin. Yunyun then arrives and Arnes explains she has run into a bout of bad fortune, not knowing it is being caused by a bracelet she bought from Megumin's parents. The bracelet's energy attracts the attention of the villagers, who chase off Arnes thinking she is the cause of the explosions. Megumin decides to use the money she earned to leave the village and puts Chomusuke in Yunyun's care. After bidding farewell and receiving gifts from her classmates, Megumin uses a teleport spell to leave the village. | ||||||

| Megumin arrives in the city of Arcanretia but is warned that the monsters in the area are too powerful for an amateur adventurer like her, barring her from taking any quests. While wandering the city, Megumin sees a nun apparently being harassed by a pair of priests and intervenes, only to inadvertently be caught in a dispute between Axis and Eris worshippers. The nun, Cecily, calls the police as a distraction and leads Megumin away before trying to recruit her into the Axis Church. Seeing that Megumin is starving, Cecily takes Megumin to the Axis Church where she meets the archbishop Father Zesta. In return for Zesta providing food and board, as well as giving her a lead on a beautiful female mage who knows explosion magic living in the town of Axel, Megumin agrees to assist the Axis Church on their recruiting efforts. To her surprise, she encounters Yunyun and Chomusuke, who had both followed her to Arcanretia. Father Zesta is then arrested by the authorities on suspicion of tampering with the city's water springs, and Yunyun admits she delivered a prophecy from Soketta warning that Arcanretia would be in danger. | ||||||
