Michael Hing

Michael Hing is a Chinese–Australian television and radio presenter, comedian and actor from Sydney, Australia. Alongside Lewis Hobba, he is the current co-host of the Triple J programme Hobba and Hing.[2] From 2015 to 2016, Hing was a host on the ABC programmes Good Game: Pocket Edition and Good Game Well Played.[3] He is the host of the SBS documentary series Where Are You Really From?.[4] Hing is also a co-host on Network Ten’s The Project.[5] He portrayed the character Sam Wu on the Stan comedy television series The Other Guy, which starred comedian Matt Okine.

Early life and education

Michael Hing was born in Australia to Chinese Australian parents who were both doctors.[6][7] His mother's family grew up in Walgett and Lightning Ridge in northern New South Wales, while his father is from Maitland and Thursday Island.[8]

Hing grew up in Illawong, in the Sutherland Shire of Sydney.[9] He attended Trinity Grammar School and Caringbah High School.[10] He also worked at a bottle shop in Chinatown, Sydney.[6]

Hing was one of 30 Australian men to be nominated for Cleo's Bachelor of the Year in 2015.[35]
