Background
he 2023 PFL regular season proceeds on June 8, featuring featherweight and light heavyweight matches. After the first three events in Las Vegas, the series moves to Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, with live broadcasts on ESPN and ESPN+. The lineup for 2023 PFL 4 was officially announced recently.[3]
In the main event, 2022 featherweight champion Brendan Loughnane faces Jesus Pinedo. Loughnane started the 2023 season with a victory over Marlon Moraes, while Pinedo lost a close match to Gabriel Braga. Loughnane leads the featherweight standings with 5 points.[4]
The co-main event, in the light heavyweight division, was to have 2022 champion Rob Wilkinson going against Will Fleury. Wilkinson won his first match of the season against former UFC title challenger Thiago Santos, while Fleury defeated Krzysztof Jotko. Santos aimed to break his losing streak at the event as he competes against Mohammad Fakhreddine.[3]
Nine PFL fighters were suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after failing drug tests; which included former UFC title challenger Thiago Santos and former PFL heavyweight champion Bruno Cappelozza. Additional fighters impacted by the suspensions are Krzystof Jotko, Rizvan Kuniev, Mohammed Fakhreddine, Cezar Ferreira, and Will Fleury. Two featherweight season fighters, Alejandro Flores and Daniel Torres, were also been suspended. In light of recent fighter suspensions, Ty Flores stepped in for Will Fleury to fight Rob Wilkinson in a light heavyweight match, and Tyler Diamond will replace Daniel Torres against Movlid Khaybulaev in a featherweight bout. The scheduled fight between Thiago Santos and Mohammed Fakhreddine was cancelled. Gabriel Braga will replace Alejandro Flores to fight Marlon Moraes in another featherweight bout. Taylor Johnson and UFC veteran Andrew Sanchez will join the light heavyweight season to replace the suspended fighters and will face each other. Impa Kasanganay and Tim Caron, new additions to the light heavyweight season, will also compete against each other.[5]

Standings After Event
The PFL points system is based on results of the match. The winner of a fight receives 3 points. If the fight ends in a draw, both fighters will receive 1 point. The bonus for winning a fight in the first, second, or third round is 3 points, 2 points, and 1 point respectively. The bonus for winning in the third round requires a fight be stopped before 4:59 of the third round. No bonus point will be awarded if a fighter wins via decision. For example, if a fighter wins a fight in the first round, then the fighter will receive 6 total points. A decision win will result in three total points. If a fighter misses weight, the opponent (should they comply with weight limits) will receive 3 points due to a walkover victory, regardless of winning or losing the bout; if the non-offending fighter subsequently wins with a stoppage, all bonus points will be awarded.[7]
