Padman Surasena

Hon. Justice Preethi Padman Surasena is a Sri Lankan lawyer and a sitting Puisne Justice of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. He was formerly a Justice of the Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka, and the President of the Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka in 2018–2019.[1][2][3]

Alma mater

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Surasena earned his bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Colombo. Following which he joined Sri Lanka Law College in 1985. He was admitted to the bar in 1989, and then joined the Attorney General's Department as a State Counsel.[4]

He was appointed as a judge of the High Court in 2007 and later became a Court of Appeal judge in 2016, and later He became the President in 2018.[5]

He also chaired the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud and Corruption.[6]
