Polohy

Polohy (Ukrainian: Поло́ги, IPA: [poˈɫɔɦɪ]; Russian: Пологи, romanized: Pologi) is a city in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Southern Ukraine which is occupied by Russia. It serves as the administrative center of Polohy Raion within the oblast. Population: 18,111 (2022 est.).[1]

From 1928 to 1937, it carried the name of Chubarivka, after the Ukrainian Bolshevik revolutionary and Soviet politician Vlas Chubar. Since March 2022, it has been under Russian occupation.[2]

History

On 3 March 2022, Polohy was captured by Russian forces during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[3]
