Rafiath Rashid Mithila

Rafiath Rashid Mithila is a Bangladeshi actress, singer, author and development worker.[1][2] She has been working in both film industry of Bangladesh and Kolkata, India.[3] She is currently the head of the Early Childhood Development programme in BRAC.[4]

Early life and education

Mithila went to Viqarunnisa Noon school and college, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She completed her bachelor's and master's in political science at the University of Dhaka.[5] She completed her second master's in early childhood development from BRAC University with Chancellor's gold medal.[6][7] She earned B.Ed. degree from the National University in Bangladesh. She completed a course on Contemporary Approaches to Curriculum: Instruction and Assessment from the College of Education and Human Development, University of Minnesota in USA in 2010. She is pursuing her PhD in Early Childhood Education at the University of Geneva. She took Kathak, Manipuri, and Bharat Natyam dance lessons at Benuka Dance Academy, and was trained in Nazrul Geeti at the Hindol Music Academy.[1] She was a student of the art school Nandan, participated in Drik Gallery group exhibition with oil paintings.[1] She was a child theatre artist at People's Theatre, Bangladesh.

Career

Audio-visual media

During the university life, Mithila started modeling career in 2002 with fashion house Neelanjana Palli.[1] Her acting career started with television drama Shunchen Ekjon Radio Jokeyr Golpo in 2006. She appeared in TV commercials and became the brand ambassador for many brands and products.[5] She was the model in the music videos,[1] and acted in various dramas and telefilms.[8] In 2022, she made her silver screen debut with Anonno Mamun directorial Omanush in Bangladesh, co-starring with Nirab Hossain and Sauvik Kundu's Ay Khuku Ay in India, sharing the screen with Prosenjit Chatterjee.[9] She hosted celebrity talk shows Amar Ami on Banglavision.[10]

Academy and Development

She was a guest lecturer of Department of Early Childhood Development, Institute of Educational Development, BRAC University in 2017. She was a lecturer of English Language and Foundation courses in Northern University Bangladesh. Prior that, she was a faculty of English Literature and Language, Scholastica International  School, Dhaka. Mithila currently works as the head of Early Childhood Development at BRAC.[11] She works extensively in some African countries.[12] She has been an active contributor in the West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Swayam in West Bengal, India. She is a member of Asia-Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood (ARNEC) and South Asia Forum of Early Childhood Development Professionals (SAFECDP).

Personal life

Mithila was married singer Tahsan Rahman Khan (2006-2017).[13][5] Together they got a daughter, Ayra Tehreem Khan (b. 2013).[14][15] In 2019, Mithila married Indian film director Srijit Mukherji.[16][17][18] Bangladeshi singer Shayan Chowdhury Arnob is her cousin.[19]
