Rebecca Beeson

Rebecca Beeson (born 20 February 1997) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the AFL Women's competition.

Early life

Beeson was born in Sydney, New South Wales and is Taiwanese from a parent.[1] Beeson was raised on the Central Coast region of NSW and played soccer, cricket, softball and rugby there.[2]

At the age of 12 her family relocated to Perth, Western Australia.[3] In Perth she joined the Youth Girls competition for Swan Districts Football Club and developed a passion for the sport.[2] She returned to New South Wales to study Commerce and Media at the University of New South Wales, continuing to play with the UNSW-ES Bulldogs in the SWAFL.[4]

Beeson was drafted by the Greater Western Sydney Giants with their fourth selection and thirty-second overall in the 2016 AFL Women's draft.[5]

AFLW

She made her debut in the thirty-six point loss to Adelaide at Thebarton Oval in the opening round of the 2017 season.[6] She played every match in her debut season to finish with seven games.[7]

Beeson received a nomination for the 2018 AFL Women's Rising Star award for her performance in round 1 of the 2018 season.[8]
