Renato Marques (Brazilian footballer)

Renato Marques de Oliveira Junior (born 9 December 2003), known as Renato Marques, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for América Mineiro.

In this Portuguese name, the first or maternal family name is Marques and the second or paternal family name is de Oliveira. "Junior" is a generational suffix used for someone whose name is the same as their father, like "Jr." in English.

Career

Born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Renato Marques joined América Mineiro's youth setup from Dínamo de Araxá.[1] He made his first team debut on 23 March 2022, coming on as a late substitute for fellow youth graduate Adyson in a 3–1 Campeonato Mineiro away loss against Tombense.[2]

Renato Marques returned to the under-20 squad after a further first team appearance, and helped the team to reach the 2023 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior finals with six goals. On 3 March 2023, he renewed his contract until the end of 2025.[3]

Renato Marques made his Série A debut on 10 May 2023, replacing Everaldo in a 2–2 away draw against Red Bull Bragantino.[4]
