Sahibabad RRTS station

Sahibabad RRTS station[1] is an under construction RRTS station in Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh, India which will serves mainly higher-speed trains. It will serve as an elevated station for higher-speed trains on the Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System that can reach speeds of up to 180 km/h. The station will be powered by solar energy, with 1,100 solar panels on the station's roof.[2]

Sahibabad RRTS station is likely to be commissioned in 2023 along with the 17 km long Sahibad-Duhaiyya section of Delhi–Meerut RRTS.[3][4]

History

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) had invited tenders for the construction of the Sahibabad RRTS station along with the 7.3 km long Sahibabad ramp–Ghaziabad section of the 82.15 km Delhi-Meerut RRTS line. KEC International and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation emerged as the lowest bidder for construction work. As a result, KEC International and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation has been awarded a Rs 579.76 crore contract responsible for Package 1 (Sahibabad ramp–Ghaziabad) in August 2019. Under the agreement, companies started construction of Sahibabad RRTS station.[5]

Station layout

The Sahibabad RRTS station will have 2 elevated station platforms, With the under constructed station building will be located underneath of platform level. The RRTS station will have 2 side platforms, which will serve 2 rail tracks for regular service.

It will have three levels - platform, concourse and street level. Sahibabad RRTS station will be 215 meters long and 26 meters wide. The rail tracks will be constructed at a height of 24 meters above the ground level.[6]

Exits

There are a total of 2 entrances and exits, 1 on each side of the mezzanine level. An entry and exit from the south side of the mezzanine floor crosses Madan Mohan Malviya Marg and is connected to the ground at Loh Purush Drada Sardar Patel Udyan. Another entrance and exit connects northern side of the station's mezzanine floor with the ground floor in front of the Sahibabad Bus Depot Petrol station.
