Sri Yulianti Soemardjo

Hajah Sri Yulianti Soemardjo (born 25 July 1965), popularly known as Hj. Sri Yulianti, was an Indonesian model, gymnastics instructor, and beauty queen who initially won Miss Universe Indonesia 1982,[1] she went to represents Indonesia and competed in Miss Universe 1982 held in Lima, Peru.[2][3]

In this article, the surname is Soemardjo, her Betawis patronymic surname; Yulianti is her Betawis matronymic surname.

Yulianti started her foray into the world of pageantry at the age of 17, eventually she was crowned as the winner of Miss Universe Indonesia 1982.[1] Yulianti represent Indonesia in the Miss Universe 1982 pageant, she travelled to Lima, Peru, it was the first time in the pageant's history that the event was held in South America, she became the sixth Indonesian to ever competed in Miss Universe pageant.[1] At the end of the finale she is not making into the semi-finalist round, out of 77 contestants.[4]

Later in 1984, although not reported to the police, there was a controversy surrounding Yulianti involvement in the Miss Universe 1982 pageant,[1][5] Tenri was accused of breaking the Code of Law 281, edict number 01/U/1984, regarding cultural and educational conducts, Indonesian law forbids any kind of involvement in international beauty pageants and considers such as immoral.[6][7]

In 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, at the age of more than fifty years old, she spends her time in her gymnastics studio,[8][9] From 2022 to 2027, Yulianti is entrusted to become the Chairwomen of the Indonesian Creative Gymnastics Association (IOSKI) for the province of West Nusa Tenggara.[10][11] Hj. Sri Yulianti is active in introducing creative gymnastics to students,[12] especially those who are interested in the world of gymnastics and want to deepen their abilities to become national gymnastics athletes under Indonesian Athletics Association.[13][14][15]
