Iuka was created in 1877.[7] It was named after the Battle of Iuka in Iuka, Mississippi.[8] Iuka was once the county seat.[7]
The first post office in Iuka was created in December 1877.[9]

Iuka is at 37°43′47″N 98°44′5″W (37.729696, -98.734758).[10] The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.60 square miles (1.55 km2). All of it is land.[1]
