Osawatomie, Kansas

Osawatomie is a city in Miami County, Kansas, United States. it is 61 miles (98 km) southwest of Kansas City. In 2010, 4,447 people lived there.[6] Its name is a portmanteau from two streams nearby, the Osage and Potawatomie.

Osawatomie is at 38°30′6″N 94°57′3″W (38.501650, -94.950799),[7] along the Marais des Cygnes River. The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 5.11 square miles (13.23 km2). Of that, 5.00 square miles (12.95 km2) is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 km2) is water.[2]

Government

The Osawatomie government has a mayor and eight council members. The council meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 6:30PM.[1]
