Alex Padilla

Alejandro Padilla (/pəˈdə/; born March 22, 1973) is an American politician. He is the Junior U.S. Senator from California after replacing Vice President Kamala Harris on January 20, 2021.[1] He was elected the 32nd Secretary of State of California in January 2015.

Padilla is a member of the Democratic Party.

On December 22, 2020, Padilla was picked by Governor Gavin Newsom to replace Vice President Harris in the United States Senate. Padilla is the first Hispanic Senator from California and the first male senator to represent the state since 1993.[2]
