Beacon, New York

Beacon is a city in Dutchess County, New York, in the United States. The 2000 United States census says that the city is home to 13,808 people. Beacon is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. Beacon was named in memory of fires that burned from the summit of the Fishkill Mountains to warn the Continental Army about British troops.
