History

Belpre was created in 1879.[7] It was incorporated in 1906.[8] Belpre's name came from the French word "belle prairie" for "beautiful meadow".[9]

The first post office in Belpre was created in 1879.[10]

Geography

Belpre is at 37°57′4″N 99°5′59″W (37.950976, -99.099597).[11] The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.41 square miles (1.06 km2). All of it is land.[1]

Climate

Belpre has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Belpre has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[12]
