History

Dunellen started in 1867. It grew around a railroad station. The station was originally called New Market station. It served the nearby community of that name in Piscataway.[17]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 1.048 square miles (2.715 km2). All of it is land.[2][3] Dunellen is in the Raritan Valley, a line of communities in central New Jersey.
