El Cerrito, California
El Cerrito is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States and it also lies in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was founded by refugees after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. El Cerrito was incorporated on August 23, 1917.[1]

Climate
El Cerrito has a cool Mediterranean climate. This means that El Cerrito has generally mild weather, with warm summers and cool winters. It rains an average of 23 inches. It snowed in El Cerrito in 1976, and snow is sometimes on the forecast as well.[2]

- 107 (0.5%) Native American,
- 37 (0.2%) Pacific Islander,
- 1,079 (4.6%) from other races, and 1,525 (6.5%) from two or more races.
2000
The 2000 United States Census[8] said that El Cerrito had a population of 23,171. The racial makeup was:
- 13,390 (57.79%) White,
- 5,649 (24.38%) Asian,
- 1,978 (8.54%) African American,
- 1,712 (7.39%) Hispanic or Latino,
- 115 (0.50%) Native American,
- 57 (0.25%) Pacific Islander,
- 709 (3.06%) from other races, and 1,269 (5.48%) from two or more races.
