Genoa, Nevada
Genoa /dʒəˈnoʊ.ə/[lower-alpha 1] is an unincorporated town in Douglas County, Nevada, United States.[5] Founded in 1851,[6] it was the first settlement in what became the Nevada Territory. The population was 939 at the 2010 census.[7]

- Unlike that of its namesake, the Nevada community's name is pronounced with the accent on the second syllable, /dʒəˈnoʊ.ə/ jə-NOH-ə rather than /ˈdʒɛnoʊ.ə/ JEN-oh-ə.[4]
