Gameplay
Bomberman 64 is based more on the SNES Bomberman titles, and is fully 2D without any 3D graphics.[2] The main "Bomberman Mode" features standard Bomberman gameplay, but also features multiple exits per room, and thus branching paths.[3] Multiplayer also features "Tandem Mode", where two players work together.[3] Up to four players can play multi-player mode.[4]
The game also includes two puzzle modes: "Panic Bomber", based on the Bomberman spinoff of the same name,[5] and "SameGame", which is a tile matching 2D puzzle game focused on eliminating blocks.[5] An additional single-player mode, Bomberman Park, allows players to explore an amusement park and attempt to achieve high scores in several minigames, akin to the Bomberman Land series.[6]
Release
The game was released on December 20, 2001.[1] It was the final game released for the Nintendo 64 in Japan.
It is often confused with the 1997 game Bomberman 64, which was released in Japan as Baku Bomberman.[2]
