Name

Parvocythere gottwaldi Higashi & Tsukagoshi, 2012

Holotype: adult male (SUM-CO-2023), right valve length 173 µm, height 88 µm, left valve length 174 µm, height 84 µm.

Type locality: Interstitial, from a depth of about 20 cm in very coarse sandy sediment, littoral beach at Daio-zaki, (34°16.59'N, 136°53.83'E), Shima City, Mie Prefecture, Pacific coast of central Japan.

Paratypes: 14 adult males (SUM-CO-2024–2037) and 12 adult females (SUM-CO-2038–2049).

Etymology: named after Jochen Gottwald
