The backside 180 is a staple trick for skateboarding. As the name implies, it's a variant of the frontside 180. It is one of the easier tricks to learn on a skateboard, and not much practice is needed to master the trick. This guide will show you how to do a backside 180.

Steps

  1. 1
Ride at a comfortable speed, not too slow since this trick is harder to do stationary.
  2. 2
Place your back foot with your toes hanging slightly over the edge of the side of the tail.

  3. 3
Place your front foot in the position for the ollie, but having the heel hanging off a bit.
  4. 4
Wind your shoulders in the opposite direction as the FS 180. For Regular skaters will twist left and goofy skaters to the right.
  5. 5
As you unwind your shoulders they will become parallel to the board, start the ollie now. Since your back foot is in the pocket, the board will naturally start to turn BS 180.
  6. 6
Roll your front foot up the board. Keeping in mind you're doing a mid air spin so allow your legs to keep the spinning motion.
  7. 7
As you reach the apex of your ollie the board should have turned at least 90 degrees.
  8. 8
Allow your head to spin freely. You're spinning to your blind side and you will want to spot your landing through your legs.
  9. 9
Let your front trucks touch the pavement slightly before your back trucks. The momentum will allow for correction if you didn't spin quite a full 180 degrees.
  10. 10
Now ride away with a big cheesy smile.
