This wikiHow teaches you how to switch Gboard (the default Android keyboard app) to a different language.
Steps

1Open your Android’s keyboard. You can do this in any app that allows typing by tapping the typing area.
- For example, tapping the Google search bar on your home screen will open the keyboard.

2Tap and hold the globe key. It’s at the bottom of the keyboard. A list of installed languages will appear.
- If you see the language you want to use, tap it to switch now. This will change the keyboard to the selected language. If you don’t see the right language, continue with this method.

3Tap LANGUAGE SETTINGS.

4Tap ADD KEYBOARD. It’s at the bottom of the screen. Now you’ll see a list of languages you can install.

5Select a language.

6Select a keyboard layout. The options will vary depending on the language you selected.

7Tap Add. It’s at the bottom-right corner of the screen. This adds the selected language and keyboard layout to your list of languages.
- If you are not automatically returned to the keyboard, open the keyboard again now.

8Tap and hold the globe key. Now the list of languages includes the one you just added.

9Tap the language you want to use. This switches the keyboard to the new language.
