How to Delete a WeChat Account on Android

This wikiHow teaches you how to permanently delete your WeChat account and all of your chat history using Android.

Steps

Open the WeChat app on your Android. The WeChat icon looks like two white speech bubbles in a green box on your Apps list. WeChat will open up to a list of your recent chats.
- If WeChat opens up to a chat conversation, tap the back button to go back to your chats list.

Tap the
icon. This is your Me tab in the lower-right corner of your screen. It will open your profile menu.

Tap Settings. It's at the bottom of your profile menu.

Tap Account Security on the Settings menu.

Scroll down and tap Delete Account. This option is under the "Security" heading at the bottom of your Account Security page.

Scroll down and check the confirmation box. It reads "I have read and agree to the above terms and request my account to be deleted."
- You have to agree to WeChat's deletion terms in order to delete your account.
- Make sure to read the deletion terms on this page before you check this box. You can't recover your chat history or the contents of your conversations after deleting your account.

Tap Next. It's a green button at the bottom of your screen.

Tap the text field next to Password. You have to enter your account password to confirm your identity before you can delete your account.

Type your account password in the text field. This is the same password as the one you use to log in to your account.

Tap the text field next to CAPTCHA. You have to enter the captcha code to prove you're a human and not a malicious bot.

Enter the code you see in the picture. Carefully read the alphanumerical captcha in the image next to the text field, and enter the code.

Tap Next. It's a green button below the captcha form.

Enter a reason why you're deleting your account. Tap the text field on your screen, and briefly explain why you're permanently deleting your account.
- WeChat is asking for your reasons only to use it as feedback when developing their products and service. Regardless of the reasons you're providing here, you will still be able to delete your account.
- You don't have to provide a legitimate reason as to why you're deleting your account. You can just leave it blank if you don't have time.

Tap Delete. It's a red button below the text field. This will permanently delete your account and all of your chat history. You will receive a confirmation message in a pop-up window when your account deletion is complete.

Tap Done. This confirms your account is permanently deleted. It will redirect you to the login screen.
