Editing Voice Memos in Voice Recorder

1Open Voice Recorder on your Galaxy. If you recorded the memo with the Voice Recorder app, you can use the app to trim or rename the file. It’s the microphone icon typically found in the app drawer.

2Tap LIST. It’s at the top-right corner of the app. A list of your saved recordings will appear.Advertisement

3Rename the file. To crop the file instead, skip to the next step. To change the file’s name, follow these steps:
- Tap ⁝ at the top-right corner.
- Tap EDIT at the top of the menu.
- Select the file you want to rename.
- Tap RENAME at the top of the screen.
- Type a new name under “Rename recording.”
- Tap RENAME.

4Crop the file. To remove the beginning and/or end of the file, follow these steps:
- Tap the file you want to crop.
- Tap EDIT at the top-right corner. Crop bars now appear at the beginning and end of the waveform.
- Drag the bar on the left to the place where you want the recording to begin.
- Drag the right bar to the place where you want the recording to end.
- Tap the scissors icon. A menu will appear.
- Tap Delete dimmed area to crop.
- Tap SAVE.
- Select Save as new file to create a new file from this trimmed recording, or Replace original file to save over the original.

5Trim the file. If you want to remove one part of the recording while keeping the rest intact, follow these steps:
- Tap the recording you want to trim.
- Tap EDIT at the top-right corner. Bars now appear at the beginning and end of the waveform.
- Drag the bar on the left to the beginning of the area you want to remove.
- Drag the right bar to the end of the area you want to remove.
- Tap the scissors icon. A menu will appear.
- Tap Delete selected area to remove the highlighted part of the recording.
- Tap SAVE.
- Select Save as new file to create a new file from the edited recording, or Replace original file to save over the original.

Editing Voice Memos in Samsung Notes

1Open Samsung Notes. If you recorded a voice note Samsung Notes, you can use it to rename the file. It’s the orange icon with a white sheet of paper inside.
- It’s not possible to trim or crop this type of voice memo.

2Tap the voice note you want to edit. Voice notes have microphone icons at their bottom-left corners.

3Tap EDIT. It’s at the top of the app.

4Tap the name of the note. The name is now editable.

5Type a new file name and tap SAVE. It’s at the top of the screen. The file name is now up-to-date.
