This wikiHow teaches you how to sign up for a free Netflix trial. While Netflix generally requires you to pay for a subscription, your first month with Netflix is free, and you can cancel your membership before the end of the month to avoid paying. Keep in mind that you cannot legally obtain a free Netflix account for more than one month, though you can technically create multiple accounts for multiple free months if you have several different payment methods.

Things You Should Know

It's not possible to get a Netflix account for free for longer than one month.
To get a free account for a month, sign up for a free trial with an email account and payment option that isn't already registered to another account.
You may be able to share Netflix login information with a friend or a roommate in exchange for paying a small portion of the fee.

Open Netflix. Go to https://www.netflix.com/ in your computer's web browser.

Click JOIN FREE FOR A MONTH. It's a red button at the bottom of the page.
- If Netflix opens to another person's account, either use another browser or sign out by hovering over their profile icon in the top-right corner and then clicking Sign Out.

Click SEE THE PLANS when prompted. This is at the bottom of the page. Doing so takes you to a page with

Select a plan. Since you aren't paying for the first month either way, it's best to leave the default top-tier plan—which allows HD streaming—selected.
- If you do plan on paying for subsequent months, you may want to select a cheaper plan.

Scroll down and click Continue. It's at the bottom of the page.

Click CONTINUE when prompted. Doing so will take you to the account creation page.

Enter an email address and password. Type a working email address into the top text box, then enter the password you want to use for your Netflix account into the bottom text box.

Select a payment method. You'll usually have two options here: you can use a credit (or debit) card, or you can use PayPal if you have an account.
- In some cases, you'll also see an option for a gift card.

Enter your payment details. Even though you aren't paying for the first month, you'll have to enter your payment method's information for Netflix to use for subsequent months. This usually includes you cardholder name, card number, card security code, and expiration date.
- If you're signing up via PayPal, you'll have to sign into PayPal here and then follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the "purchase" within PayPal.

Click START MEMBERSHIP. It's at the bottom of the page. Doing so will sign you up for Netflix; at this point, you can begin using Netflix as often as you like without having to pay a cent for the next month.

Cancel your membership before getting billed. In order to enjoy your full month of Netflix without having to pay for any additional months, you can cancel your membership a few days before the renewal period. You'll need to use a computer to do this:
- Go to https://www.netflix.com/ and sign in.
- Select your account if necessary.
- Hover over your profile icon in the top-right corner, then click Account in the drop-down menu.
- Click Cancel Membership in the top-left corner of the page.
- Click Finish Cancellation in the upper-left side.

Download Netflix. Open the App Store (or Google Play Store) and search “Netflix”. Download the app.
