Background

The Eels kicked off the season on 2 March, playing against Melbourne Storm at home, however lost on golden point for 12–16.

The Eels got their first victory of the season on round 4, where they beat Penrith Panthers in the Western Sydney Derby at home, 17–16 on golden point.
