The logo and slogan was unveiled on 20 April 2023.[1] The logo combines fire and water. Having grown up through coal and steel, fire is both history and tradition here. It stands for great emotions and success, driven by the burning enthusiasm for sport of the people in the region. It applies to athletes and fans alike. At Rhine-Ruhr 2025, the fire is more than just a flame at the Opening Ceremony. It is the symbol for the inner passion and the commitment that drives each individual in the region. And then there is the water: The rivers that connect the Rhine-Ruhr region. A strong and dynamic region that has been undergoing transformation since its creation. The water symbolises this constant movement and change that makes Rhine-Ruhr a place of progress and renewal. A region that lives and breathes, always on the move and full of enthusiasm. Rhine-Ruhr stands for a diverse community that fights together for its goals and dreams. And although fire and water initially appear to be opposites, here they are complementary. Rhine-Ruhr 2025 is the place where fire and water unite for positive change. The five colours of the logo represent the five host cities (Red/Düsseldorf, Magenta/Mülheim an der Ruhr, Yellow/Essen, Blue/Duisburg and Teal/Bochum). The slogan: A Summer with Distinction (German: Summer com Laude) symbolises an excellent summer of outstanding sporting competitions, unforgettable experiences and international exchange. We believe in the transformative power of sport, education and culture. And in change through enthusiasm. The goal is a young and modern event that is diverse, loud, and fun. An event full of contrast and character, with enthusiastic visitors, full sports venues and many new friendships. The logo was designed by Cologne based agency PBL Milk.
