Akure Airport

Akure Airport is a domestic airport serving Akure the Ondo state capital. It also serves the neighboring Ekiti state. The airport was built by the Ondo State Government and commissioned on 8th February 1986. The airport is located at Oba-Ile community, east of the state capital and at a distance of 12km from the city center. The nearest towns to the Airport are Owode, Araromi and Eleyowo communities. The airport is operated by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Air Peace has one of its hubs at the airport. The airport was built to ensure ease of air travels and especially to further open Ondo state up with the prospect of making it a cosmopolitan pedigree. Akure Airport is recently renovated to meet the required international standard of airports.[4] Recently renovated to meet the required international standard of airports, this is an airport serving Ondo State. Located a few kilometers from the city, it is a domestic airport for in-country flights.[5]
