The show revolves around Lakshmi, a kind-hearted naive girl from a village who gets married to a businessman named Rishi Oberoi. However things take a turn when Lakshmi learns the truth of her marriage.
Plot
Lakshmi Bajwa is a kind and naive Punjabi Hindu girl from a village who believes in helping others. After the death of her parents, she and her younger sisters, Shalu and Bani, are taken to Mumbai by their greedy aunt, Rano Bajwa. Rano tries to get Lakshmi married to a drunkard driver named Balwinder so that she could usurp Manoj's (Lakshmi's father's) property, as Manoj's last wish was to see Lakshmi happily married. Lakshmi saves the life of Rishi Oberoi, an industrialist. Actually, Rishi had "Markesh Dosh" in his horoscope which brings life threatening troubles to his life. Neelam (Rishi's mother) gets Lakshmi's horoscope checked by a priest and finds out that she is lucky for Rishi and can save his life. Thus, she gets them married for one year. Rishi already has a girlfriend named Malishka with whom he is planning to get married after one year by divorcing Lakshmi. After marriage, Lakshmi falls in love with Rishi but comes to know about the truth of her one-year-marriage, causing her to divorce Rishi. Malishka brainwashes Neelam against Lakshmi. Rishi realises his love for Lakshmi and confesses his feelings but she rejects him and asks him to marry Malishka for the happiness of his family. Lakshmi's marriage gets fixed with a rich businessman named Vikrant Kakkar.
